The proliferation of communication technology and social media in recent years has been something of a phenomenon. Everywhere you look, people are talking on cellphones, feverishly sending text and Twitter messages, and logging on to social networks like Facebook and MySpace to share their life experiences with the world.  Always one to keep pace with current trends, University College has its own Facebook page, which you can follow at University College Syracuse.  You will find regular updates on classes, registration deadlines, upcoming events, and all things related to the lives of part-time students.

When using social media as a communication tool, take care to monitor the appropriateness of your own pages.  Informal exchanges and photos you post may come back to haunt you if someone in authority – a prospective employer, for example – does a Google search on your name and discovers unprofessional or inappropriate content on your site. Be sure that everything you post is fit for the world to see, because there is very little privacy online these days.
