Ready, set . . .  GO SU part time, at University College!

Part-time Study   If you’re considering a return to school to begin working on a degree or finish one you started, don’t let anything hold you back. The economy is slowly improving, and you can position yourself to take advantage of future job opportunities and financial benefits by earning your degree now. Too many roadblocks? Each one can be overcome with simple solutions and determination. When you reach your destination, you’ll discover that the journey wasn’t as difficult as you expected, and the ultimate reward – your degree – can transform your life and your future.
  • Don’t be intimidated by the thought of being surrounded by students much younger than you. There are many nontraditional learners on campus, and adult students are highly valued as contributing members of the college community.

  • Take advantage of flexible course formats. Classes are offered in the evenings, online, and throughout the summer. You’ll be surprised how well they fit into your busy schedule, even when you have work and family responsibilities.

  • Don’t assume you can’t afford an SU degree. Matriculated part-time students are eligible for grants, scholarships, financial aid, and child care assistance. Higher education translates into higher earning power – workers with bachelor’s degrees earn, on average, more than $20,000 a year more than high school graduates, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

  • Explore childcare options. University College offers financial support to part-time students who need help with childcare costs in order to attend classes. There’s also assistance locating child care providers, information about choosing quality care, and referrals for personalized consultations.

  • You’ll never have to “go it alone” at UC. There are knowledgeable, helpful academic and financial aid advisors who will help you every step of the way, from registration to graduation. That includes choosing courses and majors, identifying goals, obtaining financial aid, arranging for tutoring, and working cooperatively with other SU offices like career and disability services.  And it’s all at YOUR convenience – there are evening hours and a variety of services at one location.
